Treatment for Substance use can be successful when individuals and their families fully participate in the recovery process. This includes understanding the biological, psychological, social and spiritual consequences of chemical use, how individuals and families are effected, and what the causes of relapse are. Also, by learning the difference between helping and enabling, family members can begin to support a drug-free lifestyle while addressing their own issues related to this illness. Hope, forgiveness, health boundaries, and serenity are all possible as families grow together toward a healthy lifestyle in recovery. New Directions has been working with individuals and their families since 1982. New Directions Counseling Associates is a group counselors who share a common view of how to best treat chemical abuse.
